Subject: BCA Meeting Thursday, September 1 at 7:30pm
Date Sent: August 22, 2011

Please join us at the Bannockburn Citizens Association meeting on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at St. Mark Church. Refreshments will be served at 7:30 pm, and the meeting should end by 9pm.

Our neighbor Dr. Victoria (Tori) Hampshire, a scientist and veterinarian, will discuss her experience as a vet and offer suggestions and comments concerning care of your dogs, cats or other pets. Dr. Victoria Hampshire, VMD, is a veterinarian and a Captain in the United States Public Health Service (PHS). She graduated from U. Penn in 1989, worked for a year in private practice and was commissioned into the USPHS in 1989 serving as a research support veterinarian at NIH for ten years and transitioning to FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine in 2001. In November 2003, Dr. Hampshire was promoted to Adverse Event Coordinator for FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine CVM. This position required Dr. Hampshire to interact with pet owners whose animals were harmed and/or injured by products that are regulated by FDA through CVM. Her exemplary work at the FDA earned her a PHS Achievement Medal in June 2005. From there she transferred and continues to work to the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiologic Health Division of Cardiovascular Devices where she reviews the preclinical safety of cardiovascular devices for first in man clinical trials. Dr. Hampshire has continued to maintain clinical competencies for USPHS deployments working under federally-approved outside activities weekends or evenings in an emergency animal clinic and consulted with the Humane Society of the United States. If you have particular questions that you would like Tori to address at our meeting, let me know and I'll pass them along in advance.

We will also have reports from our committees. As always, the meeting will be an opportunity to visit with your neighbors and pass along news and comments. We look forward to seeing you on September 1.

Directions to St. Mark Orthodox Church: On River Road heading north, take a left on Nevis Road. Make an immediate right onto the access road that parallels River Road and follow it 100 yards to St. Mark Orthodox Church. Once you are in the parking lot, facing the side of the building you will see an entrance door to the right/rear.

Best regards, Ted Garrett
BCA President
