Special Meeting Nov. 10 Re Neighborhood Robberies/Security

As you know, there have been several troubling incidents of robberies in our neighborhood.  I have had discussions with the county police and requested increased police presence in our neighborhood.  We have also formed a new ad hoc Neighborhood Security Committee.

We are calling a special meeting to discuss these issues and to identify measures that we should undertake.  Please join us at the special Bannockburn Citizens Association meeting on Thursday, November 10, 2011, 7 pm at St. Mark Church. Refreshments will be served at 7:00 pm.  We will start as soon as we have a quorum and the meeting should end by 8:30pm.

Our meeting will begin with remarks from Officer Denise Gill, the Montgomery County Police Community  Policing Coordinator, our liaison with the county police.  She will focus on what we can do to help the police, to protect the neighborhood and to protect our individual homes.

Officer Gill’s remarks will set the stage for the second portion of our meeting.  We plan to have a general discussion to identify and implement pro-active measures, centered around our newly formed Neighborhood Security Committee and our block captains.

I hope that you can attend.  I especially urge our Block Captains to attend this meeting.  In the meantime, let me know if you are interested in serving on the Neighborhood Security Committee.

The meeting will be at St. Mark Orthodox church, 7126 River Road, Bethesda.  They have a (non-denominational) meeting space that we use for our meetings.

Directions to St. Mark Orthodox Church: On River Road heading north, take a left on Nevis Road. Make an immediate right onto the access road that parallels River Road and follow it 100 yards to St. Mark Orthodox Church. Once you are in the parking lot, facing the side of the building you will see an entrance door to the right/rear.

Best wishes, Ted Garrett
BCA President
