Subject: Bannockburn Citizens Association April 19 Earth Day Meeting
Date Sent: April 3, 2012
Please mark your calendar for our next Bannockburn Citizens Association meeting on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at St. Mark Church. Refreshments will be served at 7:30 pm, and the meeting should end by 9 pm.
This will be a special meeting in honor of Earth Day 2012, which will take place a few days later. Our meeting will feature a presentation by our County Councilmember Roger Berliner, who has devoted particular attention to environmental matters. Roger Berliner has a distinguished record of service to Montgomery County. He serves as Chair of the Council’s Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy, and Environment Committee and is an active member of the Washington Council of Governments’ Climate, Energy, and Environment Policy Committee. Some of the issues that Councilmember Berliner has been working on include the following:
- Promoting energy efficiency in buildings and trying to assist in encouraging the financing for retrofitting commercial and residential properties
- Protecting the tree canopy and balancing our need for reliable electrical service with our tree lined streets
- The bag fee and it relationship to the County’s efforts to fulfill our commitment under the Trash Free Potomac Treaty and our Water Quality permit
- Helping and encouraging our non-profit organizations to form an energy buying co-opt to get green energy and save money
We look forward to seeing you on April 19. Please tell your neighbors who may not have registered on our website to receive these announcements.
You may pay your 2012 dues by sending a check to Bonnie Garrett, BCA Treasurer, 6604 Broxburn Drive, Bethesda, MD 20817, or via PayPal on our website: http://bannockburncitizens.org/dues/index.php
