Subject: BCA Meeting Tonight/Privacy Issues
Date Sent: October 3,2013

This is a reminder to please join us at our next Bannockburn Citizens Association meeting tonight at 7:30 pm at St. Mark’s.

Our speaker will be our neighbor David Medine, who is Chairman of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. The Board is an independent agency within the executive branch established by Congress in 2007 to advise Congress and the President of the United States to ensure that concerns with respect to privacy and civil liberties are appropriately considered in the development and implementation of all laws, regulations, and executive branch policies related to terrorism. This is a timely discussion given the debates that have arisen due to the National Security Agency (NSA) surveillance programs leaked to the press by Edward Snowden.

As always, the meeting will be an opportunity to visit with your neighbors, discuss BCA activities, and pass along news and comments. We would particularly like to welcome new neighbors.

Dues for 2013 were due on January 1. You can pay via PayPal on our website, or you can send your check for $30 (or more) payable to Bannockburn Citizens Association to Bonnie Garrett, BCA Treasurer, 6604 Broxburn Drive, Bethesda, MD 20817.

I look forward to seeing you tonight.

Best wishes,
Ted Garrett
BCA President
