Bannockburn Citizens Association meeting
Thursday, September 10 at 7:30 PM

Please join us at our next Bannockburn Citizens Association meeting this Thursday, September 10 at 7:30 PM at St. Mark.

In a talk titled "Grand Old Ditch: Past, Present and Future of the C&O Canal," Judith Welles, a C&O Canal Trust Board member and local history author, will provide historic highlights and photographs of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, including the canal's role in the Civil War. She will describe current-day challenges facing the C&O Canal National Historical Park in the wake of budget cuts, the recent failed park fee proposal, and activities of the C&O Canal Trust, the official non-profit partner of the national park. The Canal Trust works to raise funds to preserve the Park for future generations and to broaden support through programs that highlight the Park's history and natural beauty. Given its proximity, the C&O Canal is a particularly valued asset to our neighborhood, and we very much look forward to hearing Judith's remarks.

As always, the meeting will be an opportunity to visit with your neighbors, discuss BCA activities, hear reports from our Committees, and pass along news and comments. We would particularly like to welcome new neighbors.

Suggestions welcomed for speakers at future meetings. These are your meetings, and we want them to be interesting and informative to you. Bonus points for suggested speakers who are Bannockburn neighbors.
