Solar panel meeting

Date: June 14
Time: 7:00 P.M.
Location: Adat Shalom, 7727 Persimmon Tree Lane, Bethesda.

Seth Goldstein, our BCA Environment Committee Chair, asked me to pass along the following information. MD SUN, a non-profit group working to increase solar energy, is putting together a Montgomery County co-op intended to make the installation of solar panels on individual homes simpler and less expensive. MD SUN will make a presentation describing the co-op and providing estimates of costs and benefits on Tuesday evening, All are invited to attend the presentation and the Q and A to follow.

In brief, MD SUN will get competitive bids from solar installation contractors and, based on the principle of buying in bulk, the co-op will go through the process of purchasing solar systems. The group will select a single contractor to install systems on all of the homes, but each homeowner will sign a separate contract with the chosen installer, will own the panels, and will receive all the subsidies and benefits available.

BCA Welcome Committee.

Jane Pettit and Cecily Abrams visit and welcome new BCA neighbors. This is a valuable service to the community and much appreciated by our new neighbors. Jane and Cecily would very much appreciate a couple of volunteers to help with this effort. If you would like to help on this committee, please email Welcoming@BannockburnCitizens.org or call: 301-229-5932.

New Treasurer.

At our meeting on May 26, Karen Lesser was elected Treasurer of BCA. In the future, you may pay dues by sending a check to Karen Lesser, 6923 Heatherhill RD, Bethesda, MD 20817. You may also continue to pay dues via PayPal on the BCA website. Our former Treasurer, Bonnie Garrett will remain active on the BCA Board and will continue to work on our festivals.

Best Wishes,
Ted Garrett,
