June 1 BCA Meeting Featuring Kathryn Chase Bryer

Please join us at our next Bannockburn Citizens Association meeting on Thursday at 7:30 PM at St. Mark.

As always, the meeting will be an opportunity to visit with your neighbors, discuss BCA activities, hear reports from our Committees, and pass along news and comments. We would particularly like to welcome new neighbors, young neighbors, and those interested in the theater.

Our meeting will feature remarks by our neighbor Kathryn Chase Bryer, who has been with Imagination Stage has served as the Assoc. Artistic Director of Imagination Stage, Inc. since 2002. Imagination Stage is a nationally important theatre for young audiences and arts education program. Kathryn is a theatre artist with a background in directing, acting, dramaturgy, teaching, and administration. She holds a B.S. from Northwestern University.

At Imagination Stage, Kathryn has directed over 40 productions in the last 20 years and has helped to develop and commission over a dozen scripts, many of which have been published by Dramatic Publishing. Most notably, she has worked closely with playwright/lyricist/composer Joan Cushing and the playwright and composer team of Karen Zacarias and Deborah Wicks LaPuma. Many of the scripts she has directed and dramaturged are being done around the country in other youth theatres. Recently, she directed THE BFG which won the 2014 Helen Hayes for Best Scenic Design and Best Production, Theatre for Young Audiences, and WILEY AND THE HAIRY MAN which won the 2015 Best Production, Theatre for Young Audiences. Next at Imagination Stage, she will direct WONDERLAND: ALICE'S ROCK AND ROLL ADVENTURE.

In addition to her work at Imagination Stage, Kathryn has directed for Constellation Theatre Company in DC (SCAPIN and their most recent production, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER). She co-teaches a course in Theatre for Young Audience in the graduate program at Catholic University and directed MAGE KNIGHTS OF THE ETERNAL LIGHT for Catholic Univ. MFA program. She currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Helen Hayes Committee.

You will not want to miss Kathryn's remarks about her career and the theater. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Best Wishes,
Ted Garrett,
BCA President
